Hook, Line, & Sinker: Casting with Google
Objective: To model how to incorporate Google Cast for Education in the classroom to increase student engagement.
Description: Engaging students in public speaking and presentations is an excellent way to empower students and put them at the center of their own learning, while providing opportunities to engage in 21st century practices. However, it can often become cumbersome to switch from one group to another with having students log-in and out of computers or having them email you their presentation. By using Google Cast for Education one can leverage this app to share screens from the student to the teacher for purposes of broadcasting to the projector in your room.
You can also couple this app with using the Student as Researcher by having that student's discoveries quickly shared to the class through screen sharing.
By participating in this workshop you will learn how to access to the application and manage sharing screens from different users in the room. You will also be to experience how sharing different content (i.e. Google Slides, Prezis, YouTube videos, etc.) works in our school network environment.
Advice for Implementation: Test out your ability to use the application before venturing to explore it with students. By doing so it will increase your confidence in using this app with your students. Sign up for this hands-on workshop to learn more!
